My name is Kopano Mantswe i am from country called Botswana.My country is the size of France but it has a very small population of 2million.Two thirds of Botswana is a desert a great source of material of this kind of housing.Although my country boasts of vast mineral resources we Batswana benefit a little from this resources resulting in alot of people living in humiliating poverty.My people live in inhabitable conditions because they cannot afford to build proper and dignified houses for themselves.Your approach to building a house is both cheap and so original.This is truly original.I am very much interested in learning how to build this houses so that i can start a self help housing project for rural communities in my country.

My hope is that she'll have a better time of it, that we're having, here in Mississippi. I'm building a home out of recycled aircraft hangar components, and reclaimed shipping containers. It's elegant in it's simplicity, and a "high speed build..."
Or at least it would be, if I could get all the "nay-saying politicians" out of my way...
You can read about it, here;

Good Luck, LIZ! I'm pullin for ya!

We found this very interesting. We are planning to build an earthbag home in Cochise county. We would be interested in receiving more information as the project moves along.

Awesome picture! I love looking into alternative building methods, though I do worry about building codes and such, as the area I live in is fairly well developed.

Can you please tell me if the remainder of the book will be coming online? I only get up to the Roofing section and then it's just all in plan black type with no link to the articles.
Thanks,
Kathleen

Hi,

I have just started a blog on earth friendly housing to encourage people to think about that alternative. I want to show a lot of pictures to help people imagine what the possibilities are. I would appreciate pictures of the cob house you are referring to in your blog. Please include any relevant information you'd like to see and also what you'd like shown in the credits section.

The blog is at www.risingseas.blogspot.com. And please don't hesitate to take the survey!

Thanks a million!

We had planned to build with strawbale when we lived up North, but here earthbag seems to be the perfect medium.

One of the reasons we chose to live here is ability to live without heating and cooling. That and the possibility of eating locally grown foods!
